October 2009

Food Lion helps local children (September 30 - October 14)
Shop at one of your neighborhood Food Lion's and help local children. From September 30-October 14, all area Food Lion stores will be selling Children's Miracle Network football icons to support MUSC Children's Hospital.

Charleston area Great Clips (All month!)
Need a haircut? Stop by any Charleston area Great Clips and help children in need. Throughout the month of October, local Great Clips locations will be supporting MUSC Children's Hospital by selling Children's Miracle Network Icon balloons. When you buy a $2 balloon you will get $2 of your next hair cut.

First Annual Southern Miracles Wine Dinner & Auction (October 22)
Join the Renaissance Charleston Hotel Historic District at our First Annual Southern Miracles Wine Dinner & Auction benefiting The Children's Miracle Network which helps support the MUSC Children's Hospital. Learn more about this event.

Children's Miracle Network's Torch Relay (October 23)
Children's Miracle Network's Torch Relay will make a stop in Charleston on Friday, October 23. Join the MUSC Children's Hospital Fund along with local Marriott employees and community members as we walk the Cooper River Bridge as part of this 33 day nationwide event. November 2009

Service of Remembrance (November 6)
MUSC Children's Hospital and the PASSAGE (Parent and Sibling Support Affecting Grief Experiences) program hold an annual Service of Remembrance for families who have had a child die at MUSC or at home following care in our hospital. PASSAGE is a program of support for families who are grieving and working through the loss of a child.

The Service of Remembrance is held every November. This year the service will occur at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 6, at St. Luke's Chapel. Find out more!

December 2009

19th Annual Reindeer Run (December 5)
The 19th Annual Reindeer Run presented by Piggly Wiggly and Half Moon Outfitters announce 2009 t-shirt design winner. Nicole Szwes, a student at the Art Institute of Charleston, has been picked as this year's winner. The design will be featured on all participant t-shirt's and race promotional items. The race takes place Saturday, December 5. For more information or to register please visit www.ReindeerRun.org.

6th Annual Bulls Bay Golf Tournament (December 8)
Please join us for the 6th Annual Bulls Bay Golf Tournament presented by Baker Motor and Mercedes Benz. A wonderful day of golf at one of Charleston’s most prestigious and beautiful courses will be hosted by Joe and Lisa Rice. Following the golf tournament, there will be awards, entertainment, dinner and an auction. To sign up, please complete the registration form and fax to Wanda Bazemore at (843)792-8595. Ongoing Fundraisers

SC Society of the Children of the American Revolution Fundraiser
South Carolina Society of the Children of the American Revolution has chosen to help Pediatric Cardiology at the Children’s Hospital as their year-long state project. Each year the state president selects a project that he or she will pursue during the one-year term of office. This year’s president, Thomas Burnette has dreams of one day being a doctor and chose to benefit Pediatric Cardiology by raising funds through the sale of pins, auctions, fundraisers as well as a toydrive and sewing blank dolls. Heart pins can be purchased for $10 at www.scscar.org or by calling 803-760-2004. All proceeds will benefit the MUSC Children’s Hospital Fund for Pediatric Cardiology.
