The silk fabric that will be designed just for the winner
When Chef Barry Waldrop's mom passed away he wanted to do something special with a beautiful piece of silk fabric that was near and dear to her heart.
Barry's mom, Yvonne, was known in Charleston as the Coconut Cake Lady - and all who knew her, loved her. He's teamed up with Charleston's own established
designer Mary Porter, who will display the fabric in her couture house at 72 Wentworth Street and have raffle tickets available at $50/each. The winner
of the raffle will have a dress designed exclusively for them using the vintage silk - it will be called the Yvonne Dress. The drawing will take place
during Charleston Fashion Week at Mary Porter's shop on Wentworth. Mary Porter and Barry Waldrop are donating all of the proceeds to MUSC Children's Hospital.
