A Med/Peds program is only as strong as the individual programs and the individual residents that make it up. I knew that I wanted to train somewhere that would develop me into an equally good internist and pediatrician. I also knew that I wanted to be somewhere that I could be part of a team, where taking care of a patient takes priority over advancing personal agendas. I feel that I have certainly found that in MUSC. This is a place where I am challenged every day by the patients and faculty but also feel encouraged and supported by my resident colleagues.

I really liked the great atmosphere in the hospital, and Charleston is a wonderful city to live in. Residents are very well trained. The Children's Hospital is a large referral center and free standing children's hospital.

The Pediatrics Residency program has become my second family! We spend a lot a time together, inside and outside of the hospital and the friendships made here will last a lifetime. The faculty and staff are awesome teachers. I cannot ask for a more supportive environment than this!

I totally love the people I work with, and I feel supported by the other residents and attendings. Also, I feel like, as a program, we really have a great time, and we really learn a lot, and we're focused on improving.

To find MUSC, first, I found a large group of good pediatric residency programs through talking with faculty and advisors. Then, during interviews I really looked for the residents who were happiest, because I knew that residency was going to be difficult, and I wanted to be at a place where the residents all get along and have lots of support from faculty.

I chose MUSC because I felt and still feel that MUSC Pediatric's Program would prepare me for anything I wanted to do after residency. Here, I have an active voice in not only the direction of the residency program but also in my own personal training. As cliche as it sounds, I do feel that the faculty, staff, and residents here are more than just my co-workers, they're a part of my family.
